New Orleans Saints Wide Receiver Marques Colston partnered with Blessed to be a Blessing to host a toy giveaway for 30 children in the St. John Housing Authority. The event was held on December 20 at REGALA Gym in Reserve just before the Christmas holiday. The event began with pizza and drinks before each child received a bag filled with Christmas toys. The children also posed for individual photos with Colston and received a keepsake picture. “It is truly a blessing to impact a community in this way,” said Colston. He added, “Having the opportunity to provide toys to those who really need them is what Christmas is all about.”
Parish President Natalie Robottom, Councilman District V Michael Wright and Councilman District VI Larry Snyder attended the toy giveaway in support of the program. “Mr. Colson is no stranger to St. John and his generosity and humbling demeanor has not gone unnoticed”, said President Robottom. Colston’s wife Emily, his son Austin, and his mother, brother and sister were also on hand to distribute toys and pizza. “It was a pleasure having Mr. Colston and his wonderful family here in St. John Parish to support the youth of our parish,” said Councilman District V. The giveaway was a huge success and we are very grateful for Mr. Colston for his generosity.
